Working Together Consultation

A consultation for the areas of Child Safeguarding is currently running through Birmingham City Council. This is an area that affects every provider, and could shape the way the field is handled in the coming years.

Of particular interest to the consultation are the following items:

  • the replacement of Local Children Safeguarding Boards (LCSBs) with local safeguarding partners;
  • the establishment of a new national Child Safeguarding Practice Review Panel;
  • and the transfer of responsibility for child death reviews from Local Safeguarding Children Boards to new Child Death Review Partners.

The consultation runs until 31st December, and can be found here.

As representatives for the sector, the PVI Association has already helped formulate a response from the Early Years Sector, which you can find here.

However, even though a sector-wide response has already been given, we urge everyone who can to fill out their views as well, as individuals or companies, to get the relevant voices heard – the people who will be affected, should be the ones shaping the process, after all.
