Sarah Presswood is the Director and Manager at George Perkins Day Nursery in Birmingham. She has worked in Early Years for 20 years after a career in the Law and Finance. She has a wealth of experience as a practitioner and management in the UK and overseas.

Sarah has a long record of campaigning on issues that affect the world of early years like the quality of qualifications such as NVQs and furthermore the standard of delivery of those qualifications. She sits on the Workforce Development Steering Group for Birmingham City Council. For several years she sat on BCCs Early Years Reference Group that worked on the development of the Early Years Single Funding Formula for the City and from that role became the PVI representative on the City’s Schools Forum. She is currently a PVI representative on the City’s Early Years Forum and sits on the reference group that feeds in to the Service Review of Early Years, Children’s Centres and Family Support in the City.

Sarah was one of the first candidates in the country to gain Early Years Professional Status and has always had a passion for continuing professional development. She has acted as a consultant to training programmes on a range of early years’ subjects for local settings, universities and the Local Authority. She has also been an assessor and mentor for the Early Years Professional Status for University College Birmingham. For several years Sarah wrote a column for Nursery World on the role of an Early Years Professional.

She is passionate about all things Early Years and especially about creating the best possible circumstances in which young children flourish and reach their fullest potential.

Sarah helped establish PVI Support in May 2014 and elected as Chair Person to the Association in June 2014
