STEPPING STONES NURSERIES

Sara Reece is a registered general nurse, having qualified from Guys Hospital London in 1987. She is the founder and director of Stepping Stones Nurseries in Birmingham. The first Nursery in Great Barr was established in 1991, with the second following in Streetly in 1994. Both settings provide full, part-time and sessional care and education to children aged 12 months to 5 years of age, all year round.

Between 1987 and 2010 Sara was also an active participant within the healthcare sector, commissioning and servicing dental care for Birmingham Primary Care Trust. This led her to establish and be a partner in 4 dental practices within the city. Between 2007 and 2010 she was actively involved with petitioning for equality & new policy to be implemented within this sector, culminating with being invited to speak at the BDA (British Dental Association) conference. The skills gained from these experiences are transferrable.

Sara has 24 years experience working within and managing her child care and education businesses. Within this time and particularly in recent years, there have been huge changes within the sector and she now wishes to play a more active role in ensuring that the challenges facing Early Years PVI providers are represented and considered in decision making policy. She therefore helped establish the PVI Support Association at its conception in May 2014 and was elected Treasurer and Membership / Committee Coordinator in June 2014.
